25 Years: A Reflection

In 2018 GDI completed our 25th year in business. 25 years for a business is a significant number! There are many changes that the IT industry has seen in the past 25 years. This got me thinking about all the other organizations in Ann Arbor, in Washtenaw county and in Michigan that have been here for a significant amount of time.

University of Michigan celebrated its bicentennial anniversary in 2017 – that is the 200th anniversary of the founding of the University of Michigan. This public university has been devoted to the pursuit of knowledge and the education of students, even though the education system has changed tremendously. Another Michigan iconic company, Ford Motor, was incorporated in 1903 – that’s 115 years serving the transportation needs of consumers. The transportation industry has evolved greatly over the last century, now with advent of the autonomous and smart vehicles. Furthermore, many organizations find their longevity by serving as nonprofit organizations. The Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation has persevered in serving Washtenaw County for 55 years. During this time, they have distributed over 10,000 grants and scholarships. They are a tremendous example of a determined organization that adheres strongly to its founding principles.

Organizations that last a long time have learnt to adapt to change while staying true to their mission and serving their constituents. In 25 years, we have seen the transformation in the information technology industry and the changes it brought to every aspect of our life. While GDI has adapted and changed with the introduction of new technology demands, our commitment to customer service and high value deliverables has remained.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey thus far.

Sincerely, Swatee Kulkarni Executive Vice President, GDI Infotech
