The client, a Education Loan Management Firm, has a presence across US. Known for its Educational Loan Management services, the company strives to and succeeds at achieving a fair return on the quality and innovation that characterize its offerings.
Project Objective:
This project addressed implementation of Cognos Reporting systems with installation and configuration of Cognos servers for best performance for about 15000 end users. The client was using Actuate for its reporting along with host of other tools and software. They sought ad-hoc reporting and canned reporting system offered by Cognos. The project objective was to improve the performance of Cognos Reporting system and successful implementation of Cognos Reporting system with new environment.

GDI was selected by the client for its extensive experience in managing delivery of multiple data warehousing solutions across functional areas. The engagement entailed Cognos implementation and improvement of Cognos Reporting System. The Client invested to improve the hardware, to have distributed environment for Cognos Reporting System to support large number of Users i.e. 15000 Users.
Key Responsibilities:
The GDI team performed an extensive study and analysis of requirements for the project. A GDI consultant served as mentor to the client’s development team, directing project activities, following best practices and providing guidance in implementing improvements that harnessed Cognos capabilities. GDI realized that defining the milestones of each project deliverable would be paramount in achieving client satisfaction in the long run. The GDI team maintained a successful track record of timely deliverables that has spurred the client to extend the project for implementation of Cognos Reporting system. Our team implemented the Cognos on the new environment and achieved the load balancing by having the distributed environment.
The Results
The new implementation exceeded the client expectations. The Cognos Reports are giving better performance with the new environment implementation. The client has reduced the cost by improving end user satisfaction and proving adhoc reporting.
