GDI assisted a leading hotel chain in the successful implementation of a PeopleSoft SCM project, reducing errors and streamlining operations.
Client Background
The client is a leading hotel chain with a global presence and the most recognized name in the lodging industry. This company is pioneer of several innovative programs in the hospitality vertical.
Technology Employed
PeopleSoft 8.4 SCM, GL, AP, Projects
Project Objective:
The system, used by 100 core users across technical and financial teams, is also accessible by other employees as well as customers to make hotel bookings. Upgrading the PeopleSoft version in one division caused a ripple effect of data inconsistencies.
The GDI team was engaged to resolve these data inconsistencies. To tackle the problem, GDI consultants mapped the existing data to version 8.4 to identify the additional requirements of the later version. Conversion scripts were then created to modify the data per the requirements of 8.4. This modified data was then tested by in multiple environments to ensure that all requirements were identified and met before moving the solution to production. Functional and technical specifications were prepared for the system and for the conversion process. Specifically, the following systematic approach was used:
GDI consultants also took the initiative to educate end-users on the correct process for entering data for invoice processing; training the IT users on the technical and functional modularity of systems; and producing documentation for SQL updates.
Key responsibilities:
Our GDI consultants, through their understanding of the client needs and their deep experience in PeopleSoft implementations, identified and corrected all data errors generated from the conversion process, from incompatibilities in the e-commerce system, and in open orders brought over from version 7.0 to 8.4. The final result was the successful conversion of data and exceptional post-implementation support that exceeded customer expectations.
